“The Sixth Gun” Heading to NBC?

The Sixth Gun heading to the small screen?

In case, you haven’t heard, NBC has ordered a pilot of Cullen Bunn’s “The Sixth Gun”, his long running western horror book published by Oni Press with art by Brian Hurtt.

If you’re like me and have never read the series, here’s what it’s about:

“Set in the American West in the aftermath of the Civil War, the comic centers around six pistols of otherworldly power. The most dangerous of the weapons, the Sixth Gun of the title, vanishes, only to resurface in the hands of an innocent girl, reawakening dark forces. Villains believed long dead set their sights on the pistol, and only the gunslinger Drake Sinclair stands in their way.”

Apparently, it was originally set to be a miniseries on Syfy, but that never came to fruition. I’m actually glad to see that NBC wants to give it a try on a larger viewing platform other than Syfy.

Carlton Cuse, of “LOST” fame, is the series showrunner and if you’d like to read the first issue of the series for free, click here.
