DC Comics Cancels New DC52 Titles “Blue Beetle,” “Grifter,” “Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.,” and “Legion Lost”

Well, it seems that 17 is an unlucky number for four different New 52 DC titles.

With issues #17, “Blue Beetle,” “Grifter,” “Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.,” and “Legion Lost” will be cancelled.

Bye Bye, Frankenstein!

Bye Bye, Frankenstein!

DC VP of Sales Bob Wayne had this to say about the cancellations: “There’s always going to be some pressure on whether or not the new idea being pitched is maybe more exciting than another series we have that may have already told its story. That might mean it’s maybe time to put that title on the shelf for a while or have the characters migrate into some other title. So there’s not really a hard and fast rule where there’s a line in the sand where if it falls below this point on the Diamond chart or doesn’t make this percentage of X, it’s gone. It’s really very story driven.”

It looks like Blue Beetle will wrap up and lead into DC’s new Threshold series, Grifter will wrap the current storyline of Cash’s past, Frankenstein will wrap after its part in the current “Rotworld” series, and Legion Lost is, well…gone as of issue #17.

This will put DC’s line of titles to less than 52, which is the number of titles that both Didio and Lee have said that they wish to maintain, so keep your eyes and ears open to announcements of new titles on the horizon.
