In their first interview about the new “Indestructible Hulk” series, Mark Waid and Leinil Yu talk to CBR about their take on the new Hulk series and what they plan to do exactly with Bruce Banner and The Hulk. Waid even mentions how he plans on taking the same approach with The Hulk that he did with “Daredevil”.

Mark Waid feels that one of the aspects that made the new “Daredevil” comic book series so successful was the idea that he took the character “back to center”, which is something that he plans to do with the new “Hulk” comic book series. Instead of Bruce Banner feeling sorry for himself that he’s a superpowered monster, Waid plans to take the character into a new direction with a more heroic attitude.

Mark Waid even goes on to say that the addition of the word “Indestructible” into the title goes on to reflect Bruce Banner’s whole new attitude to his life in the new series. Along with the new attitude, Waid also says that Bruce Banner and the Hulk have a new mission that will take them all over the Marvel Universe.

The entire interview is not specifically based around everything that Mark Waid will be doing, either. They also talk to artist Leinil Yu about what he plans to do with the art for the “Indestructible Hulk”. Yu talks about his art style that he used for the “Avenging Spider-Man” and for “Supercrooks” and how he plans to move forward with that type of style in the new “Indestructible Hulk” comic book series, combining clean, detailed and gritty artwork to represent the new environment.

Both Waid and Yu also talk about the addition of armor to the appearance of The Hulk and state that it’s not just for appearances, that there will be a specific purpose for the armor.

The interview left me very interested to see how Jason Aaron wraps up the current Hulk series and to see what will happen with the new series from Waid and Yu. The new Hulk series takes place a few weeks after the events of “Avengers vs. X-Men” and since no one has seen or heard from Bruce Banner or The Hulk, the world is just a bit nervous…
