Rob Liefeld Quits DC Comics, says “I’m Gonna Do a Bloodstrike Movie Instead!”

Rob Liefeld is done with DC Comics!

In case you haven’t heard, Rob Liefeld has walked away from DC Comics. Rob Liefeld came onboard DC Comics with the new DC 52 initiative that launched last year and has been working with DC ever since the very beginning of that initiative.

Even more recently he has taken over art and writing duties for several comic series such as “Deathstroke“, “Grifter“, and “The Savage Hawkman“.

On his Twitter page, he explains that he got tired of running on the “DC 52 treadmill”, as he puts it, but that he had to walk away in order to “preserve my sanity“.

What could have caused him to lose his sanity, nobody knows, but he has made a veiled threat at DC Comics that if they attempt to spin what has transpired that he has every single e-mail and I would not put it past Liefeld to post every single e-mail online somewhere if it came down to it.

Is there going to be a "Bloodstrike" movie?

Is there going to be a “Bloodstrike” movie?

In more recent news, Liefeld’s property from the 90s, “Bloodstrike“, is now being developed as a movie from producer Adi Shankar. Shankar is known for producing such films as “The Grey“, “Killing Them Softly“, and “Dredd 3D” and it really seems that the property will be able to take advantage of many action movie elements as well as superhero and vampire movie elements that seem to be the current trend in Hollywood nowadays. Also, it looks like it will be a Rated-R movie and not dumbing it down to a PG-13 style vampire/action/superhero teen chic flick. As of right now there is no director attached and all that we have right now are just preliminary reports that it’s going to happen, so when I see a trailer for the “Bloodstrike” movie, then I’ll believe it.
