Randy’s Reviews – Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #20 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli from Marvel Comics

Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #20 Review by Randy Young

Randy from Excalibur Comics here again. Last time I reviewed a few of the number ones that came out this past week. This time I’d like to review some comics that while they aren’t new, they may have a new creative team on them, or they’re at the beginning of a new story line, or they’re just too awesome of a story to ignore.

Finally, I’m going to say a little about Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #20.

This is the beginning of what is called The Venom War, a name that’s sure to attract some new readers because they love Venom. Brian Michael Bendis, he’s really been killing it on this book and I love this breath of new fresh air that we get with Miles Morales as Spider-Man.

I expected fairly early on in the book to get an “Uncle Ben” moment for Miles, so that he learns some mantra of “with great power comes great responsibility,” but that just never seems to happen and after a while I totally forgot about it and was just enjoying this story. However, this is one of those don’t-miss issues because we have what might just be that “Uncle Ben” moment that happens here for him. It’s one of these books that I just can’t recommend to you highly enough.

That’s going to do it for the reviews right now. Feel free to pop into Excalibur, check out any of these books. Ask me about the books if you see me there, I can easily tell you about them. I’m always quick to give you a good recommendation.
