Meet Ezekiel. He has a tiger.

This issue has lots going on. Michonne and Carl are fighting walkers, Jesus and Rick meeting Ezekiel and a special someone doing something shocking and out of character. It’s just your average issue of The Walking Dead.

Here are a few things I really appreciated about this particular issue. First is that we get to see a side of Michonne we haven’t seen before. We also get to see a side of Carl that we haven’t seen for a long time, if ever. The time Kirkman takes to develop two of this series most popular characters is much appreciated and long overdue.

Second is Negan and his crew. Kirkman gave us a different take on Negan last issue that gave me pause. Was he really the intolerable evil that needed to be taken out of the picture? Kirkman takes little time this issue driving it into our heads that Negan must go. We also get to see a side of one of his crew that, while not unexpected, is quite bold.

Lastly, we have Ezekiel. His character is instantly fascinating and possibly even more terrifying to me than Negan. I’m of the mind that while Rick might want to work with Ezekiel right now, he will be on opposing sides of him later on.

This is one of those books that I can always recommend even before reading it. Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard put so much into this book. This book lives up to all the hype. The events happening here are just as fresh and spectacular as they were when the book first began.
